PROJECT

Kuki'o Residence

Big Island, HI

Tantalus Studio was hired to assist with a renovation in the resort development of Kuki’o on the island of Hawai’i.  The home, built in the early 2000’s, had finishes that were beginning to feel dated and tired, both inside and out.  Along with landscape architect Forma Design Partners and contractor Metzler Contracting, Tantalus Studio collaborated with the client to revitalize the property through new finishes, furniture and art.  A chief concern of the client was durable and practical materials for easy indoor-outdoor living and entertaining friends.  The result is a timeless and inviting home with a beautiful juxtaposition of the original craftsman architecture and a light and casual interior, accented by natural colors and textures inspired by the surrounding foliage and oceanscape.
